Great Decisions Discussion Series
It's that time again! Eight provocative topics will provide the basis for this always interesting and stimulating global issues discussion series. The more diverse the opinions (and they usually are) the more thought-provoking and rousing the conversations.
Great Decisions, sponsored by the League of Women Voters Winnetka-Northfield-Kenilworth and the Library, will take place for eight consecutive weeks. Attend one session or all.

U.S. global engagement and the military

The global power balance is rapidly evolving, leaving the United States at a turning point with respect to its level of engagement and the role of its military. Options seem to include: an “America First” paradigm, with a large military to ensure security; a more assertive posture overseas; a restoration of American multilateral leadership and a strengthened role for diplomacy; a restrained U.S. role, involving a more limited military. How does the military function in today’s international order, and how might it be balanced with diplomatic and foreign assistance capabilities?
